Authentic wins the Kentucky Derby
Bob Baffert's Authentic jockeyed by John Velasquez won the Kentucky Derby. Authentic came in with 9-1 odds according to twin spires. Baffert needed to win the Derby to tie the record for the most derbies won (6). Authentic spoiled Tiz the Law's chances at a Triple Crown. Baffert's other horse Thousand Words bucked and hit his shoulder and head while being brought out to get ready to race. He was examined by a vet and was scratched shortly there after. He is currently receiving treatment at a Vet Hospital. Tiz the Law had the best odds with odds of 4-5. He finished 2nd while Mr. Big News finished 3rd.
Authentic came out of the gates and bolted in front of the field. He led the field, and rode the inside for almost the whole race. Tiz the Law fell behind in the race. He regained to the front by turn 3. He and Authentic were neck and neck heading into the final stretch. Authentic broke away and took the Kentucky Derby.
