Collin Morikawa wins at Harding Park

The PGA Championship was this past weekend. It was the first major of the year due to COVID. The 1st major of the year was supposed to be the Masters at Augusta, Georgia in April. The PGA Championship was supposed to be held in May. It was going to be held at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. Harding Park is a par of 70. Brooks Keopka headed into the tournament after winning the last 2 PGA Championships.

Jason Day and Brendon Todd were tied for the lead with 5 under par after the 1st day of play. Haotong Li was 3 under on the 1st day and took the lead on the 2nd scoring 5 under par equaling 8 under. Dustin Johnson led into the last day scoring 5 under on the day equaling 9 under. Scotty Scheffler and Cameron Champ showed themselves in the tournament coming in 2nd into the final day, both with 8 under. Collin Morikawa scored a 6 under in the final day that propled him to 13 under and the lead. Dustin Johnson and Paul Casey scored 11 under to tie for 2nd. Morikawa took the championship.

It was Morikawa's 3rd tournament win of his proffesional career. He turned pro in 2019 and qualified for the PGA Tour. He was born in Los Angeles on Feburary 6, 1997. He is 5 foot 9 inches and weighs 160 lbs. He went to Cal (University of California at Berkeley) and graduated from the Business Admenistration in 2019. He joined the PGA Tour after graduating. He had been a regular at Harding Park while he was at Cal. Morikawa won the 2019 Barracuda Championship. He tied for 2nd in the 2019 3M Open, and tied for 4th in the 2019 John Derre Classic. So far, he has won the 2020 PGA Championship and the 2020 Workday Charity Open. He came in 2nd in the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge (See Article) and tied for 7th in the 2020 Sentry Tournament of Champions. He has 5 Top 10 finishes. The PGA Championship is Morikawa's biggest and only major win.
