San Jose luck ends as they fall to Minnesota in the Quarterfinals

The Earthquakes fell to Minnesota United FC in the quarterfinals of the MLS is Back Tournament on Saturday. Minnesota's Robin Lod opened the scoring in the 20th minute. It was on a corner kick that was headed out to a Minnesota player who crossed it back in. It was headed to Lod who was 5 feet from the line. He knocked in with tons of power to put Minnesota up. Minnesota scored a minute later when Jacori Hayes struck gold in the 21st minute to go up 2-0. There was a cross into the box and a player passed it to Hayes who knocked it in to pull away from the Quakes. San Jose had a lot of great chances before the half. Minnesota was up 2-0 at half.

In the 50th minute, Magnus Erriksson scored a penalty kick for the Quakes to bring the game within 1. He put in the left side of the net and it just soared past to give the Quakes a goal. Amarilla scored a goal in the 56th minute to help pull Minnesota away from the Quakes. Amarillo had taken the ball at midfield and just ran scoring the goal on a beautiful shot. Marlon Hariston scored in the 86th minute to seal the deal for Minnesota. There was beautiful cross and Hariston was there. He tapped it in to put Minnesota up 4-1.

Minnesota will advance to the Semis and play Orlando City SC. Portland came back to beat NYCFC last night 3-1. They scored all 3 goals in the 2nd Half after NYCFC scored in the first. Portland will face the Philadelphia Union in the semis. The Union are the Cinderella team of this tournament much like tjhe Quakes. If you are a Quakes fan like me, just look forward to next year. Go Quakes. #SJEarthquakes #MLS #MLSisBack #SJ1974
