The Giants set records blowing out Rockies, 23-5

The San Francisco Giants faced the Colorado Rockies in game 1 of a 2 game series at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado . The Giants were 17-19 and in 4th in the NL West heading into the game while the Rockies were 17-18 and in 3rd in the NL West heading into the game. It was a very important series for the Giants because the Giants would need a sweep to get into playoff contention. The Giants had beaten the Rockies last year 19-2 in game 1 of a doubleheader that they swept, winning the 2nd game 2-1. The Giants came in with a new manager in Gabe Kapler.

Wandy Peralta came in in the middle of the 8th, and carried the Giants to victory, allowing only 1 run on 2 hits. It was a very offense filled game with every pitcher allowing a run.

The Giants were the first team to have 3 players to have all had 6 RBIs in a game (Donovan Solano, Brandon Crawford. The Giants tied there San Francisco record for most runs in a game. Alex Dickerson was one homer shy of tying the record for most homers in a game. He had 3 in the game. Alex Dickerson was the first player to hit 1.000 in a game with all hits being multiple base hits. He had 6 at-bats with 1 BB, so he went 5-5 with 3 homers, and 2 doubles. 7 players on the Giants had an RBI.
